NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt bowling closes out its fall season Friday with its third straight road tournament, Monmouth’s Garden State Classic, at Howell Lanes in Howell, New Jersey.
THE LAST TIME OUT
Most recently, the Commodores placed second overall at the Colonial Lanes Classic. Over the course of the weekend, they recorded an 11-2 tournament record and earned the top seed after two days of qualifying. Vandy fell to Stephen F. Austin in the eight-game championship match.
Two Dores made the all-tournament team in New Orleans, Alyssa Ballard, who placed fifth individually, and Kaylee Hitt, who was ninth overall. It is the first all-tournament team honor of Hitt’s career.
Earlier this fall, Vanderbilt recorded top 5 finishes at Destination Orlando and the Ladyjack Classic, with Isabel Allen earning all-tournament team honors at both events. At the Ladyjack Classic, Allen, Ballard, Kailee Channell, Natalie Kent and Haley Lindley bowled a 1,237 traditional game, which is the highest scoring traditional game in program history.
THE WEEKEND AHEAD
The teams competing at the Garden State Classic include Adelphi, Bryant, Coppin State, No. 23 Delaware State, Dominican, No. 10 Duquesne, No. 20 Farleigh Dickinson, Felician, Holy Family, No. 1 Jacksonville State, Long Island, No. 9 Maryville, Molloy, Monmouth, No. 12 Mount Saint Mary’s, No. 5 Nebraska, No. 25 Niagara, No. 6 North Carolina A&T, No. 24 Oklahoma Christian, No. 4 Vanderbilt, Wilmington and No. 3 Youngstown State.
The tournament will consist of five sets of five Baker games Friday beginning at 8:55 a.m. CT, five traditional matches Saturday at 7:55 a.m. and best-of-seven bracket play Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
