Eyes on Sunday

Commodores look to bounce back for Day 3 at Big Red Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. — No. 2 Vanderbilt bowling concluded Day 2 of Nebraska’s Big Red Invitational at No. 7 on the team leaderboard as the Commodores shift their focus to Sunday.

“Today was essentially a character building day” head coach John Williamson said. “We made mistakes we haven’t all year, and in this field you’re gonna pay for those.  We’ve played pretty well on Sundays, so I’m anticipating a good finish to this weekend.”

After opening the day with a back-and-forth 1,103-1,045 loss to No. 2 seed Nebraska, Vandy bounced back against No. 4 Wichita State 1,053-977. The win over the Shockers was the second-highest total of the event for the Dores. Vanderbilt was unable to continue the momentum in its remaining matches, suffering defeats to No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 14 Sam Houston and No. 7 Maryville. Three of the Commodores’ four opponents on Saturday are currently seeded within the top four teams. Jax State continues to sit atop the team leaderboard for the second consecutive day.

Sunday marks the final day of competition at the Big Red Invitational, with action set to begin at 8:55 a.m.

The Dores’ matches will be streamed live on YouTube and Facebook. Fans can follow Vanderbilt bowling on X and Instagram at @VandyBowling for updates.
