SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – Vanderbilt’s Josie Earnest won the Gold Medal in women’s singles bowling at the Pan American Bowling Confederation Youth Championship Monday.
The Commodore junior, competing on the Team USA squad, topped an international field from 14 countries by edging American teammate Christine Bator of Warren, Mich., by 37 pins over six games.
Earnest was the 2008 NCAA Player of the Year and a first team All-America pick by the National Ten Pin Coaches Association. This is the third time Earnest has been a member of Junior Team USA.
She will team with Bator in Tuesday’s doubles as competition continues.
