LAS VEGAS – Josie Earnest and Brittni Hamilton were among seven bowling stars chosen for Team USA in addition to the top three finishers as the Team USA Trials concluded at the Orleans Bowling Center Wednesday night.
Hamilton, a four-time All-American at Vanderbilt, and Earnest, two-time NCAA Player of the Year and current Commodore assistant coach, were among five selected from a combination of Trials performance and resume. Hamilton finished fifth, Earnest 10th in the gifted field of 118.
Others chosen by the USA staff included Kelly Kulick, Missy Parkin, Stephanie Johnson, Erin McCarthy and Bryanna Caldwell.
Shannon Pluhowsky of Dayton, Ohio won the event by defeating Danielle McEwan after Pluhowsky beat Liz Johnson in the semi-finals. All three of those women are also Team USA members.
On the men’s side, Brentwood, Tennessee’s Kamron Doyle was the champion, becoming the youngest men’s winner in history at age 16.
