7/15/2006

Fort Lauderdale– Josie Earnest rolled a 230 in the 16th and final match play game Friday to beat Brigette Harrelson of Orlando, Fla., and earn an automatic berth on the 2007 Junior Team USA.

Earnest, a member of the 2005 Junior Team USA as a high school junior, placed fifth at the USBC Junior Gold tournament, a week-long event that began with 435 women who had qualified during the year across the nation.

Earnest is an incoming Vanderbilt freshman and a native of Vandalia, Ill.  She went 8-8 during the match play round-robin and ended with 9193 total pins, just four out of fourth place.

Commodore sophomore Michelle Peloquin also made the elite Sweet 16 field but didn’t have as good of fortune Friday.  The All-American went 7-9 on the day and encountered some late difficulties to finish in a tie for 12th place with 9,048 pins.

Members of the USA Junior Team typically train at the team’s headquarters during major breaks during the school year and have an international competition during the summer season.
