- Vanderbilt men’s basketball closes it four-game, season-opening homestand by hosting Jackson State at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Memorial Gymnasium.

- In the Commodores’ first high-major test of the season, Vanderbilt ran wild over California thanks to 18 steals.

- Grant Huffman and AJ Hoggard led the Dores with four steals apiece.

- Hoggard and Huffman filled the stat sheet on Wednesday night against Cal.
- Hoggard went for nine points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
- Huffman produced six points, six assists, five boards and four steals.
- Combined, the two accounted for 15 points, 10 boards, 11 assists and eight steals while committing just a single turnover.
BALL SECURITY
- The Commodores rank third in the country and lead the SEC with a 2.67 assist-to-turnover ratio.
- Huffman leads the SEC and ranks seventh nationally with an 11:1 assist-to-turnover mark.
- The Dores lead the country with just 6.0 turnovers per game through the first week of action. Vandy ranks 16th in the country and second in the SEC in turnover margin at +8.3.
- Vanderbilt committed just one turnover in the opener against UMES, marking the only time the Commodores have committed 1 or fewer TOs since at least 1996-97.
- Vanderbilt’s 18 assists, 11 steals and lone turnover in the opener mark the only time in DI basketball a team has recorded 15+ assists, 10+ steals and 1 or fewer turnovers since at least 1996-97.
