AT THE TIP

  • Fresh off its win over No. 6 Tennessee, Vanderbilt travels to No. 4 Alabama on Tuesday looking for back-to-back top 10 wins for the first time since 1993.
  • The game will air on SEC Network with Kevin Fitzgerald and Richard Hendrix on the call. Fans can also catch the game on 94.9 The Fan with Kevin Ingram and Tim Thompson.

LAST TIME OUT

  • In its first meeting with rival Tennessee under head coach Mark Byington, the Dores earned a thrilling 76-75 win over the No. 6 Volunteers.
  • There was nothing fluke-ish about the win, as the Dores erased an early 8-point deficit to lead by six at half. Vanderbilt would build the lead out to 16 in the second half before withstanding a late Vol rally.
  • Jason Edwards led Vandy with 18 points. Jaylen Carey (14), Tyler Nickel (13) and AJ Hoggard (11) joined in double figures.
  • Carey produced his best performance to date, dropping a double-double with his 14 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Vanderbilt outscored Tennessee 34-28 in the paint, 18-9 on second chance points and 20-8 off the bench.
  • According to Bart Torvik, Vanderbilt posted a 142.8 adjusted offensive efficiency, the Dores’ highest mark of the year.
  • Vanderbilt’s 76 points are the most scored on Tennessee this season.

GRUELING STRETCH

  • Vandy is in the midst of a stretch of three-straight games against teams ranked in the top eight of the AP poll, 4-of-5 against the top eight, 7-of-9 against the top eight and 9-of-11 against currently ranked foes.

THE BLOCK HEARD ‘ROUND BROADWAY

  • Graduate Chris Mañon delivered the latest iconic moment in the Vanderbilt vs. Tennessee rivalry, with a game-saving block on Chaz Lanier with five seconds to play.
  • Mañon chased down Lanier from behind to pin the potential game-tying layup before Grant Huffman saved the ball from bouncing out of bounds and gave the Dores possession.
  • The rejection was one of two on the afternoon for Mañon and his 18th of the season.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Vanderbilt visits Tuscaloosa for the lone meeting of the season with the Crimson Tide. Alabama leads the all-time series 77-71 and 48-23 in Tuscaloosa.
  • Vandy is searching for its first win in Tuscaloosa since 2020.
