When the Vanderbilt cross country team went to the Wisconsin adidas Invitational last season, Head Coach Steve Keith was still building a program. When they left, the Commodores had arrived, finishing second in a field with 19 top-30 programs.
This year, they will be trying to again assert themselves in the national conversation when they race in the Badger State on Friday, October 12.
In addition, the Vanderbilt men’s squad and the women’s “B” team will head to the Evansville Invitational on Saturday, October 13.

Meet Central | 2011 Recap
The No. 12 Commodores will attempt to find another strong performance in 2012, when they run in the fourth annual Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Friday, October 12. The field is even deeper than a season ago, featuring 20 teams ranked in the USTFCCA’s Top 30, as well as another five teams which are receiving votes.
Vanderbilt will be running with the top field in the nation for the second-straight race after finishing sixth at the Greater Louisville Classic two weeks ago. Senior Kristen Findley was the top Commodore finisher, placing sixth in the 5K race with a time of 16:59.26.
Findley was followed across the line by redshirt freshman Hannah Jumper (25th; 17:16.79), Liz Anderson (29th; 17:25.36) and Kristen Smith (33rd; 17:27.62).
The big question mark for the Commodores will be finding a fifth and final runner to factor in the scoring. Allie Scalf was that person last time, finishing 86th with a time of 17:55.01.
Anderson, Smith and Jordan White all factored into the scoring a season ago at Wisconsin. Anderson was 35th (20:47), White placed 45th (20:52) and Smith was 68th (21:06).
