Dores Set for Southern Showcase

Commodores compete in Huntsville Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Commodore cross country is back in action Friday at the Southern Showcase, hosted by Jacksonville State (Ala.) at the John Hunt Cross Country Running Park in Huntsville, Alabama. It will be the Vanderbilt’s first time competing in this event.

With 64 women’s teams and 58 men’s squads registered to compete, Vandy will see conference foes No. 9 (men)/12 (women) Alabama, Auburn (women), Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State (women) and NR/No.10 Tennessee.

The Dores took a week off to train after opening their season at the Belmont Opener where the women’s team took first, and the men’s squad earned a runner-up finish. Freshmen Michael Skora and Lily Kriegel made their collegiate debuts that meet, placing first and third, respectively. Both student-athletes were the top freshmen finishers in their races. Senior Cameron Fawcett was the top Vandy finisher on the women’s side, coming in second overall.

The Southern Showcase kicks off at 9 a.m. with the men’s 8k, followed by the women’s 5k at 10 a.m. Course maps and live results are available online. Races will be livestreamed on YouTube.
