NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Jermaine Beal and A.J. Ogilvy scored 20 points each to lead Vanderbilt to a 79-74 Southeastern Conference win over Alabama on Thursday night.
The Crimson Tide (13-9, 3-5), who led 43-36 at halftime, took a 49-45 lead on an Alonzo Gee basket with 16:37 to play. Vanderbilt (14-8, 3-5) then went on a 17-2 run to take a 62-51 lead with 9:12 left on a 3-pointer by Beal.
Beal connected on another 3 with 7 minutes to play, giving the Commodores a 70-59 lead. But Alabama cut the margin to 76-74 on an Andrew Steele 3-pointer with 3:09 remaining. Beal hit two free throws with 17.4 seconds left, and Ogilvy added another with 6.4 seconds remaining to seal the win.
Ogilvy also had 12 rebounds and Jeffery Taylor added 11 points for Vanderbilt.
Anthony Brock scored 15 points and JaMychal Green added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Alabama.
