Dores on the Web

Sept. 15, 2017

The latest buzz on the web surrounding the Vanderbilt Commodores:

VUCommodores.com: Vanderbilt inducted 10 new members into its Hall of Fame with a ceremony last Friday. The class is the first class to be inducted with every member having been a former Vanderbilt student-athlete. The inductees’ careers spanned from 1939 to 2012 on the Vanderbilt campus with All-American careers, school and Southeastern Conference records and numerous other firsts.

The Tennessean: Columnist Joe Rexrode writes that Vanderbilt has the talent to contend in the SEC East. “On Saturday night at Vanderbilt Stadium, No. 18 Kansas State will bring to the field a team that is considered a darkhorse challenger to Oklahoma in the Big 12. And I believe the home team will match up player for player and have a good chance to beat that team,” Rexrode writes.

SB Nation: Advanced stats guru Bill Connelly of SB Nation writes that Vanderbilt’s defense is one of the nation’s best through two weeks of football. “We’ve seen clear signs of improved aggression here, and that makes Saturday’s visit from Kansas State maybe the most underrated game of Week 3,” Connelly writes.

VUCommodores.com: Senior women’s basketball player Christa Reed and junior Larry Austin, Jr. from the men’s team will represent Vanderbilt basketball at the annual SEC Basketball Leadership Council this weekend at the SEC offices in Birmingham. The two councils consist of one male representative and one female representative from each of the SEC’s 14 institutions.

The Topeka Capital-Journal: Kansas State is preparing for its first big test of 2017 with its visit to Vanderbilt. K-State played SEC teams the past two years in bowl games, beating Texas A&M last year in the Texas Bowl and losing to Arkansas at the Liberty Bowl the previous season.

Anchor Down Productions: This week’s ReVealed pulled the curtain back on Vanderbilt’s win over Alabama A&M.

Baseball America: Vanderbilt baseball inked the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation for a record fifth time under head coach Tim Corbin.

Twitter: Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason is always grinding, but he still makes time for a snack.
