D1 Baseball: D1Baseball.com recognized Vanderbilt baseball as the No. 2 program in the country in its bi-annual Top 100 rankings this week. The Vandy Boys trail only one team in the rankings — fellow SEC East rival, Florida.

VUCommodores.com: Abbey Carlson was an All-SEC Freshman honoree in 2016 as a member of the Vanderbilt women’s golf team. But Carlson is also a licensed pilot who has helped build her own airplane. Read more about Carlson’s wide range of talents.

Houston Chronicle: When the Texans play Tennessee at NRG Stadium on Sunday, rookie linebacker Zach Cunningham will have a lot of former teammates and friends in Nashville watching him against the Titans.

SEC: Saturday marks the mark the 50th anniversary of the day Kentucky’s Nate Northington became the first African-American to participate in a varsity contest between two Southeastern Conference football teams. The milestone also honors Vanderbilt’s Perry Wallace. who broke the color barrier in SEC men’s basketball the same year.

VUCommodores.com: Vanderbilt’s four-year starting kicker Tommy Openshaw has been named as a semifinalist for the 2017 William V. Campbell Trophy®, presented by Fidelity Investments®. The Campbell Trophy will be awarded Dec. 5 to the nation’s top scholar-athlete.

Vanderbilt: Women’s tennis coach Geoff Macdonald and men’s golf coach Scott Limbaugh earned Vanderbilt co-coaches of the year at this week’s athletics staff meeting. Congrats to Geoff and Scott!

VUCommodores.com: Ralph Webb, a Gainesville, Fla. native, returns to his hometown this weekend as Vanderbilt takes on No. 21 Florida (11 a.m. CT on ESPN). Zac Ellis spotlights Webb and the Commodores’ running game ahead of their matchup in the Swamp. “We know our time is coming, and we trust in the process,” Webb said.
