Tennessee Tribune: Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor for Athletics and University Affairs and Athletics Director David Williams was named The Tennessee Tribune’s “Tennessean of the Year” this week. “His position and qualifications, as well as a host of impressive achievements, make him a unique figure, and are the reason the Tennessee Tribune has selected him our 2017 Man of the Year,” the Tribune writes. Congrats, David!

Vanderbilt: The Vanderbilt University Alumni Association will celebrate the late Perry Wallace, BE’70  who was a renowned figure in the American Civil Rights Movement, a highly accomplished legal scholar and educator and practicing attorney  as the 2017 Vanderbilt University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. The honor is the highest bestowed to a member of the university’s alumni community.

Twitter: Vanderbilt women’s basketball showed off special Perry Wallace commemorative patches on their uniforms vs. Georgia. Wallace passed away last month at the age of 69.

Baseball America: Vanderbilt’s Scott Brown has been recognized by Baseball America as one of the top 10 assistant coaches in college baseball. “[Brown] presides over the Commodores’ famous pitching lab and he is renowned for his work with pitchers, helping Vanderbilt to develop four first-round pitchers during his tenure,” the publications writes.

ITA: With the dual season around the corner, the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) has released its first team rankings of the 2017-18 season. The 2017 SEC Champion Vanderbilt Commodores landed at No. 2 in the season-opening poll, the highest-ranked team from the Southeastern Conference.

AFCA: Vanderbilt senior kicker Tommy Openshaw was honored at the Sugar Bowl as part of the AFCA All State Good Works Team. Congrats to Tommy!

VUCommodores.com: Zac Ellis spotlights Vanderbilt freshman guard Saben Lee, who spearheaded the Commodores’ big win over Alabama in their SEC home opener on Tuesday.

VUCommodores.com: Vanderbilt assistant bowling coach Josie Barnes, a former Commodore All-American, sits in first place after two rounds of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Team Trials, being held this week at The Orleans Bowling Center in Las Vegas.
