The latest buzz surrounding Vanderbilt athletics for week of April 24-28:

SEC: Vanderbilt men’s golf, led by head coach Scott Limbaugh, defeated Texas A&M to claim the program’s first-ever SEC Tournament title at Sea Island, Ga. Read more.

GolfWeek: Brentley Romine pens a nice piece on Vanderbilt men’s golf freshman John Augenstein, who stepped up at the SEC Tournament this week. Writes Romine: “His teammates call him ‘Johnny Golf.’ They might need to call him ‘Johnny Clutch.'” Read more.

Anchor Down Productions: Watch Vanderbilt women’s tennis celebrate winning their second SEC Tournament championship.

SEC: Fresh off its own SEC Tournament title, Vanderbilt women’s tennis dominated the SEC’s postseason awards. Astra Sharma earned just the second SEC Player of the Year honors in program history, and Geoff Macdonald likewise snagged SEC Coach of the Year. The Commodores landed reps on the All-SEC First and Second Teams and the All-Freshman Team. Read here.

The Tennessean: Adam Sparks dives into the Cuban heritage of Vanderbilt baseball player Julian Infante, which ultimately helped lead him to a spot on Vanderbilt’s roster. “Coach Corbin showed a sincere interest in our heritage and cared about our struggles,” said Julian’s father, apologizing for the tears filling his eyes. “Vanderbilt is where Julian belonged.” Read here.
