Vanderbilt University: A celebration of the life of Perry Wallace is scheduled for 11 a.m. Feb. 19 at Benton Chapel on the Vanderbilt University campus. The event is open to the public. Wallace, the Vanderbilt University student-athlete who integrated Southeastern Conference varsity basketball and Vanderbilt University athletics, died Dec. 1 at the age of 69. Feb. 19 would have been his 70th birthday.
VUCommodores.com: Vanderbilt head football coach Derek Mason has added four new coaches to his staff with Jason Tarver, Shawn Mennenga, Aaron Moorehead and Terrence Brown joining the Commodores’ program. Tarver will serve as the Dores’ new defensive coordinator taking over for Mason, who has served as his own defensive coordinator since 2015. Our Zac Ellis interviewed Tarver in this week’s Commodore Insider Podcast.
Atlanta Tipoff Club: Vanderbilt signee Darius Garland has been named as a semifinalist for the Naismith National Boys’ High School Player of the Year in an announcement made by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. Garland, from Brentwood Academy, inked a National Letter of Intent with the Commodores in November of 2017. Garland becomes Vanderbilt’s first Naismith National Boys’ High School Player of the Year semifinalist.

The Tennessean: Joe Rexrode writes on the progress of Vanderbilt women’s basketball amid a disappointing season. “Like men’s counterpart Bryce Drew, White still has her team competing through the losing and injuries, and it has improved significantly in the past month,” Rexrode writes.

New York Knicks: Vanderbilt basketball alum Luke Kornet made his NBA debut with the New York Knicks on Friday, posting 11 points and 10 rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench against the Toronto Raptors. Congrats to LUUUUUUKE!

MLB.com: Ben Weinrib spotlights how Vanderbilt baseball annually attracts a number of former players for offseason training. While many major-leaguers stay in their team cities in the offseason, “one such place is in Nashville, Tenn., where a large group of former Vanderbilt players have congregated for the better part of the past decade,” Weinrib writes.
