The latest buzz surrounding the Vanderbilt Commodores:
The Tennessean: Vanderbilt baseball made three trips to the College World Series between 2011 and 2015. What will it take for the Commodores to return to Omaha? Adam Sparks asked head coach Tim Corbin.
New York Knicks: The Knicks officially signed former Vanderbilt center Luke Kornet to a two-way contract earlier this week. Kornet then wasted no time in making a quick impression in the Orlando Pro Summer League, writes NBA.com.
Anchor Down Productions: Former Vanderbilt All-American wide receiver Jordan Matthews hosted a charity basketball game last weekend at Memorial Gym. Our own Anchor Down Productions provided a nice wrap-up of the Vanderbilt Legends hoops game below.
SI.com: Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman unveiled his annual Freaks list, which features several of the most head-turning players in college football. Vanderbilt running back Ralph Webb landed at No. 25 on the list. Writes Feldman: “The 5’9″, 200-pound Webb benches 435â€â€he’s also does 27 reps at 225, squats 565, cleans 360 and vertical jumps 36.5 inches.”
VUCommodores.com: The Commodores announced Oren Burks, Kyle Shurmur and Ralph Webb as Vanderbilt’s representatives at SEC Media Days next week.
SEC Network: The SEC announced its SEC Network Takeover schedule for the summer. Vanderbilt will take over the network with Commodore-heavy programming on Saturday, July 22.

SEC: Vanderbilt student-athletes Sam DeFabrizio, Kara Lucenti, Larry Austin, Jr., and Christa Reed have all been selected to represent Vanderbilt in a joint meeting of the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Councils and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Friday through Sunday in Birmingham. Leadership councils for the sports of football and men’s and women’s basketball were created to provide student-athletes with additional opportunities to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff.
