Number nine ranked Vanderbilt shot a 293 on the second day of play at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in Augusta, Ga., and maintained its first round lead over 18 teams on Saturday with a total of 583 (290-293). The Commodores hold a three-stroke lead over second-place Purdue, and have four players in the top seven on the individual leader board.
“We got off to a fast start today because we knew the weather was going to change on us as the round progressed,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “We gave back a few shots, but we’re still in the lead, and this marks the third tournament in three times this spring that we have held the second round lead and have played in the final group. We’ve put ourselves in position again to win the tournament, and I feel we are in a good mindset to get it done.”
Freshman Jenny Hahn is in second place on the individual leader board and has a total of 143 (70-73) and leads her fellow teammate, Lauren Stratton, by one stroke. Stratton is in third and has a total of 144 (69-75). Sophomore Irina Gabasa had the team’s low round of the day with a 70, and is in a tie for seventh with junior Rene Sobolewski with a total of 148. Sophomore Kendall Martindale is in a tie for 42nd with a 157 (81-76), and freshman Morgan Ransom, who is playing as an individual, is also in a tie for 42nd with a 157 (75-82).
