TANNER TOP 10 FOR COUSY AWARD

  • Sophomore Tyler Tanner was named to the Bob Cousy Award Point Guard of the Year midseason top 10 list.
  • It’s easy to see why as the point guard is averaging 17.8 points, 5.1 assists and 2.4 steals per game. He’s the only major conference player averaging better than 17.5/5/2 in those categories.
  • Tanner has scored in double figures in all 22 games this season and has elevated in SEC play, averaging 20.3 points and 5.6 assists midway through the league schedule.

MILES ON JERRY WEST TOP 10

  • Like his backcourt partner, Duke Miles landed on the prestigious Naismith Starting 5 watch lists, earning a top 10 spot for the Jerry West Award Shooting Guard of the Year.
  • Miles is averaging 16.6 points per game this season with 2.8 steals per game. The thefts rank sixth nationally and lead the SEC and all major conferences.
  • Miles also averages 4.3 assists per game and three boards.

JAMES STEPS UP

  • With injuries to Duke Miles and Frankie Collins in the backcourt, Mike James stepped in with a nine-point, nine-rebound performance in the win over Ole Miss.
  • Both marked season highs for James, who is returning from a missed season at NC State after an injury of his own prior to 2024-25.
  • James’ nine points came on three three-pointers while all nine rebounds came on the defensive end. He also added a pair of assists in the victory.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Vanderbilt and Oklahoma meet for just the fifth time ever on Saturday. The series is even at 2-2.
  • This will be only the second time Oklahoma has ever visited Memorial Gymnasium, the previous coming in 1955 – just the third season of action for the historic venue.
