COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team concludes its brief two-game road trip Thursday, as the Commodores head to Texas A&M. Tipoff against the Aggies is set for 8 p.m. and will air live on SEC Network.
Starting Five
>> Vanderbilt heads to the Lone Star State sporting an 18-7 overall record and a 5-6 mark in SEC play. The Commodores are coming off a 61-55 win at Georgia that snapped their five-game losing streak. Freshman Khamil Pierre scored a career-high 28 points, while junior Sacha Washington collected her sixth double-double of the season with an 11-rebound, 10-point performance against the Bulldogs.
>> Thursday’s matchup between the Commodores and the Aggies will be the 17th meeting all-time between the two schools. Texas A&M holds a 10-6 lead over Vanderbilt. The Aggies captured a 77-70 victory in the first round of the 2023 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament on March 1, 2023.
>> The Dores are 1-6 all-time in College Station. Vandy’s lone win at Texas A&M came back on Nov. 18, 1997, when the Commodores picked up a 78-59 win.
>> Vanderbilt is 7-3 in games away from Memorial Gymnasium this season. The Commodores are 5-3 in true road games and 2-0 in neutral site contests. Vandy holds a 3-2 mark in road games against SEC teams this season.
>> Jordyn Cambridge’s 327 career steals are the second-most in program history. The guard needs 12 more steals to move past Deborah Denton (338; 1986-89) for first on the list.

NET Ranking
Vanderbilt holds a NET ranking of 58 coming into Sunday’s game. The Commodores have the 10th-best NET ranking in the SEC entering conference play. The NET is an evaluation tool used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee to determine seeding and at-large bids.
Pierre’s Record-Setting SEC Freshman of the Week Honor
On Feb. 13, Khamil Pierre was named SEC Freshman of the Week for a program-record third time. Pierre averaged 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in a pair of games last week, highlighted by her career-high 28-point performance in a win at Georgia. The freshman also collected a double-double against LSU, as she scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds against the defending national champions.
Christina Foggie Named 2024 SEC Legend
The SEC announced that Vanderbilt women’s basketball great Christina Foggie will be one of 14 SEC Legends honored at the 2024 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament. One of the most decorated women’s basketball players in Vanderbilt history, Christina Foggie stands as Vanderbilt’s seventh-leading scorer with 1,743. As a senior, she was named a WBCA All-American Honorable Mention after leading the SEC in scoring with 19 points per game. Foggie was selected 24th overall by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2014 WNBA Draft. She has held the position of women’s basketball Chief of Staff at Vanderbilt since 2021.
400 Career Assists
Graduate student Jordyn Cambridge recently recorded her 400th career assist. Cambridge is 10 assists away from breaking into the top 10 on Vanderbilt’s all-time assists list. Her 109 assists are the fourth-most in the SEC and ranks 61st nationally.
Watch Out for Cambridge
Graduate student Jordyn Cambridge was one of 15 NCAA Division I women’s basketball players selected to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Mid-Season Team. The guard leads the SEC and ranks second nationally in steals with 91, while her 3.6 steals per game average also paces the conference and is third-best nationally this season.
Picking Their Pockets
Vanderbilt is third in the SEC in steals per game at 10.5. Vandy’s 10.5 steals per game average is also 33rd-best nationally. Graduate student Jordyn Cambridge paces the SEC in steals with 91. Cambridge’s 91 total steals are second-most in NCAA Division I this season.
Closing in on 1,000 Career Points
Graduate student Jordyn Cambridge needs 31 more points to join Vanderbilt’s 1,000-point club. The sixth-year player has currently scored 969 points as a Commodore. When she hits the mark, Cambridge will become the 40th Vanderbilt women’s basketball player to score 1,000 career points.
Cambridge Joins Rare Company
Graduate student Jordyn Cambridge is just one of two players in program history to record 400 assists and 300 steals during their Vanderbilt career. She joins Deborah Denton as the only Commodores to accomplish the feat. Denton had 445 assists and a school-record 338 steals in 117 games during her Vanderbilt career.
Scouting the Aggies
Texas A&M comes into Thursday’s matchup riding a two-game winning streak that has pushed the Aggies overall record to 17-6 overall and 5-5 in SEC play. TAMU is 11-2 at Reed Arena this season, though the Aggies have dropped each of their last two home contests. Texas A&M currently holds a NET ranking of 30, which is fourth-best in the SEC.
Senior Endyia Rogers leads a quartet of double-digit scorers for the Aggies at 12.8 points per game. The 5-7 guard is shooting 38.7 percent from the field and has made a team-high 44 3-pointers. Senior Aicha Coulibaly is putting up 12.1 points per contest, while sophomore Janiah Barker (12.0 ppg) and senior Lauren Ware (10.7 ppg) round out TAMU’s group of double-digit scorers.
The Aggies average 71.0 points per game this season, while they are holding teams to 55.5 points per contest. Texas A&M is shooting 41.5 percent from the field and connecting on 27.0 percent from behind the arc. Defensively, the Aggies are allowing the opposition to 35.5 percent from the field. Teams are shooting 28.0 percent on 3-point field goals against the Aggies.
