'Dores head to New Orleans

Dec. 1, 2016

The fall schedule concludes: Vanderbilt concludes its fall semester schedule this weekend at Tulane’s Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational. Competition will be held at the All Star Lanes in Kenner.

The tourney field: Alabama A & M, Grambling, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Southern, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Southern, Tulane, Alabama-Birmingham, Valparaiso and Vanderbilt.

Tourney format: There are five, 5-game Baker matches Friday beginning at 9:30 am (CT). Saturday’s six team games start at 8:25 and Sunday’s three rounds of Baker brackets begin at 8:25 a.m. The tournament standings will be based on won-loss records, not total pin fall, which is a bit of a departure from the norm.

Following the tourney: There are two viewing options for long-distance fans. Vanderbilt plans to livestream its games on http://thecube.com/cube/vanderbilt-bowling . Game updates can be found on Vandy Bowling’s Twitter (@VandyBowling). The reliability of the streaming technology rests almost entirely on the strength of the center’s Wi-Fi signal.

Travel team to New Orleans: Freshman Bryanna Leyen makes her travel debut along with Maria Bulanova, Adel Wahner, Emily Rigney, Jordan Newham, Kristin Quah, Katie Stark and Giselle Poss.

Quick season recap: Vanderbilt was ranked fourth in pre-season polls and has turned in a pair of fourth place finishes at Sam Houston’s Kat Klash and Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Warhawk Invitational.

New Orleans flavor: Before heading to their Friday afternoon practice, the Commodores will have lunch at Mother’s, one of New Orleans’ famous restaurants.
