LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 17 Kentucky had four players score in double figures as the Wildcats ran away from Vanderbilt in the second half for an 82-61 win on Wednesday night in Rupp Arena.
Devin McGlockton led Vanderbilt (17-9, 5-8 SEC) with 14 points and 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. Jaylen Carey added 12 and Jason Edwards 10 to give the Commodores three double-figure scorers.
Kentucky (18-8, 7-6 SEC) shot 58 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from three in the victory. The Wildcats were led by Otega Oweh with 20 points and seven rebounds. Amari Williams added 17, Koby Brea 12 and Andrew Carr 11 to power the Cats’ potent attack.
Neither team led by more than six in the first half as the Dores and Cats traded blows in the first 20 minutes. Kentucky held a 41-40 edge at the break after McGlockton beat the buzzer with a second-chance layup to pull the Dores within one.
The Cats opened the second half on a 6-0 run and never looked back. Kentucky went 17-of-26 from the floor in the second half and 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt went ice cold, shooting just 29.6 percent from the field after the half. The Dores scored just 21 points in the second half, the lowest total of any half this season.
Vanderbilt returns home to Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon to host No. 24 Ole Miss in a 2:30 p.m. tipoff.
