The Commodore women’s golf team carded a final three-round total of 876 (296-286-294) to finish seventh in the 15th annual Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club’s South Course this weekend. Sophomore Cindy Ha led the way for Vanderbilt in the event, shooting a two-under par, 214 (77-67-70) to finish in a tie for seventh on the individual leader board. Ha finished her back nine at five-under par and ended Sunday’s final round with a two-under, 70.
Vanderbilt 76 also counted a pair of 74’s from senior Jennifer Hahn and junior Lauren Johnson, and a 76 from junior Kate Sborov on Sunday.
“From a team standpoint, I’m very pleased with the effort and attitude of the girls this weekend,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “There’s a lot of emotion and a lot of uncontrollables when you play at home and I thought the girls handled it very well.”
Alabama won both the team championship and individual championship at the tournament this weekend. The Crimson Tide won the team title by one shot over Northwestern and finished with a final total of 848 (282-280-286), and Lakareber Abe won medalist honors with a -12, 204 (67-68-69) total.
“From a tournament standpoint, it’s an quite an honor and privilege hosting one of the best tournaments in college golf,” said Allen. “There is no way that’s possible without the staff at the Vanderbilt Legends Club, our athletic department staff and all the great volunteers that give up their time. For that, I’m very grateful.”
The Commodores are back in action October 9-11 at the Yale Intercollegiate in New Haven, Conn.
