NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt’s men’s and women’s cross country teams and three Commodores, Bria Bennis, Tyla Lumley and Claire Petersen, were tabbed USTFCCCA All-Academic, the organization announced.

To be eligible for All-Academic honors, teams must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Individuals must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and either be an USTFCCCA Division I Cross Country All-American finisher or top 25 finisher (or top 10%) at an NCAA Division I Cross Country Regional meet.

This fall semester, the men’s cross country team compiled a 3.652 GPA, and the women’s team boasted a 3.701 GPA.

Bennis, Lumley and Petersen earned individual All-Academic recognition after finishing top 20 at the NCAA South Region Championships and garnering all-region honors.

Bennis, a junior majoring in economics, was the top Vanderbilt finisher at the regional meet where she placed 13th overall with a time of 19:51.3. On the track, Bennis is ranked top 10 in program history in three events. As a freshman, she scored in the 10,000 meters at the SEC Outdoor Championships with a time of 34:11.28, the fifth-ranked mark in program history. In her first season with the Commodores, Lumley, who is pursuing a master’s degree in finance, led Vanderbilt runners at two cross country meets, including the SEC Championships. At the NCAA South Region Championships, she was the third Vanderbilt, 20th overall finisher with a time of 19:58.4. A graduate transfer from Drake, Lumley is a 2025 NCAA West First Round qualifier in the 10k and four-time All- Missouri Valley Conference honoree. At Drake, she was named to the All-MVC Academic Team twice and the Dean’s List on four occasions.

Petersen was the Dores’ sole returner from the 2024 regional squad. At the 2025 regional meet, the sophomore finished second among Commodores and 17th overall with a time of 19:54.6. Petersen competed in and scored at four cross country meets this fall. On the track, she is ranked eighth in school history in the 3,000 meters.
