SOUTH BEND, Ind. – At the Joe Piane Invitational Friday, Vanderbilt women’s cross country earned 11th place in the blue division, and the men’s squad came in 12th in the gold division.
Senior Julia Rosenberg led the Commodore women in a blue-division field of three teams ranked top 5 in the NCAA and two SEC opponents. She came in 44th individually in the 5-kilometer race with a personal-best time of 16:57.5. Graduate student Ellie Wolski was the second Dore to finish, clocking 17:01.6, also a personal best. Vandy’s remaining scorers included junior Audrey Allman (17:28.6), freshman Claire Petersen (17:29.8), who was making her collegiate debut, and senior Cameron Fawcett (17:30.8).
Senior Gigi Clifford (17:45.7) and junior Johna Grisik (18:52.2) also turned in career-best marks.
For the third meet in a row, freshman Michael Skora led the way for Vandy, finishing 15th in the gold division with an 8-kilometer time of 24:31.8. Sophomore Brady Bliven crossed the line 23rd individually and second for the Dores with a personal-best mark of 24:43.2. He was followed by sophomore Casey Bohrer (25:29.1), who also recorded a career best. Sophomore Patrick Ford (25:31.6) and junior Dylan Ballard (25:47.3) each recorded personal bests and scored for Vanderbilt.
