Dores Complete Competition at Team USA Trials and U.S. Amateur

Freshman Sydney Bohn earned a spot on Junior Team USA

RENO, Nev. – Freshman Saphyre Nofuente was Vanderbilt’s top finisher after six days of competition at the United States Bowling Congress’ Team USA Trials and U.S. Amateur.

“Bowling five days on five challenging patterns against some of the top players both amateur and professional is hard,” head coach John Williamson said. “Our players performed well, and each person had some special moments.”

Nofuente posted high scores of 265, 256 and 267 during the week to finish 20th overall in the U.S. Amateur standings. Her top 20 finish in 2025 is a 22-spot improvement from her 2024 placement.

Junior Alyssa Ballard was the Dores’ second-ranked finisher in Reno, placing top 25 at the U.S. Amateur.

Fellow freshmen Stephanie Hong and Sydney Bohn earned respective finishes of 30th and 31st among U.S. Amateur competitors. Bohn earned a spot on Junior Team USA for 2025. She is the 16th bowler in program history to earn a spot on the junior national team.

Vanderbilt signee Katelyn Abigania won the U.S. Amateur title and made both Junior Team USA and the adult national team. Avery Domguin, who will also join the Commodores as a freshman next fall, earned a spot on Junior Team USA.

Ballard, Bohn, Nofuente, Hong and the rest of the Vanderbilt bowling team return to competition Jan. 17-19 when they kick off their spring slate at the Northeast Classic in New Castle, Delaware.
