Vanderbilt begins its quest for the NCAA 2015 Women’s Golf Championship this Thursday-Saturday in the St. George, Utah Regional, the Commodores’ 16th consecutive time they have been selected to an NCAA regional and the 17th time overall.Â
The Commodores, the number five seed, will be joined by #1 Southern Cal, #2 Arkansas, #3 Virginia, #4 Stanford, #6 UNLV, #7 San Diego State, #8 Miami, #9 Colorado, #10 California, #11 SMU, #12 TCU, #13 Denver, #14 Wisconsin, #15 MTSU, #16 New Mexico State, #17 Northern Arizona, and #18 Albany
“I couldn’t be more excited about going to St. George!,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “I absolutely love this time of year. The girls are finished with final exams and now the focus has shifted to just playing golf. I believe our best is yet to come this season.”
Eighteen teams are selected to each of the four regionals, with the top six teams advancing to the NCAA Championships May 22-28 at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. The top two individuals not associated with the six teams from each region will advance as individuals to the NCAA Championships.
The Commodores will send senior Kendall Martindale, junior Jennifer Hahn, sophomore Antonia Scherer, and freshmen Alexandra Farnsworth and Cindy Ha to participate this weekend.
This week’s event will be held at Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club, which will be set up as a par-71, 6,255-yard format. Â The Commodores will play alongside #4 Stanford and #6 UNLV in the first round, and will tee off at 8:54 Mountain Time. Â Eighteen holes will be played each day of the competition.
