Vanderbilt sophomore guard Dee Davis has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week the league announced Monday.

Davis led No. 19 Vanderbilt to a perfect 2-0 week. She averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals. She shot 45.8 percent (11-of-24) on the week and 77.3 percent from the free throw line (17-of-22). She scored a game-high 23 points, one of shy of her career-high against Alabama and also dished out four assists in helping the Commodores to a 64-53 win over the Crimson Tide.

Against No. 18 Georgia, the Cincinnati, Ohio native scored a game-high 18 points, including seven of VU’s 12 points in overtime, and dished out six assists and recorded five steals on the road as the Commodores rallied to defeat Georgia, 66-59, in overtime. Davis connected on 9-of-12 free throws (75 percent).

This marks the first Player of the Week honor for Davis and the second for the Commodores this season. Senior guard Abi Ramsey earned the honor after her performance against Florida during Week 12.

No. 19 Vanderbilt (21-6, 10-4 SEC) nows heads to Greenville, S.C. this week for the 2005 SEC Tournament. The No. 3 seed Commodores will play the winner of the game between No. 6 Mississippi State and No. 11 Arkansas Friday night at 8:15 p.m. (CST). The game will be televised on FSN South.
