Senior point guard Dee Davis was named one of the five best point guards in the country, in a poll of national experts released this week on ESPN.com.
Davis is joined on the list by Lindsay Harding of Duke, Lyndsey Medders of Iowa State and Renee Montgomery of Connecticut, all ranked just behind North Carolina’s Ivory Latta.
Davis led the Southeastern Conference with 6.8 assists per game as a junior during the 2005-06 season. She earned preseason All-SEC honors from league coaches and media.
The voting panel featured ESPN analysts Nancy Lieberman and Beth Mowins, as well as Mechelle Voepel, Graham Hays and Melanie Jackson of ESPN.com.
Vanderbilt begins the 2006-07 season this Sunday, Nov. 12, traveling to face Colorado in Boulder. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT.
