Day Two: Concolino, Vanderbilt in First Heading into Final Round of Mason Rudolph

9/24/2005

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Commodore freshman Jacqui Concolino fire a second-round best 3-under par 69 but Vanderbilt slipped into a first-place tie with Georgia heading into Sunday’s final round of the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship at Vanderbilt Legends Club.

As a team, the Commodores struggled in second-round action, shooting 11-over par, 279+299=578. Meanwhile, Georgia (285+293=578) carded a second-round team-best 293 to pull into a tie with Vanderbilt.

At 7-under par for the tournament, Concolino carries a three-shot lead over Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst (69+71=140) into the final round. Auburn’s Maria Martinez (69+73=142) and Arizona State’s Azahara Munoz (70+72=142) are five shots behind Concolino at 2-under par.

“It was tough out there today,” Concolino said. “I had to be patient with the wind. I had nine pars, but they were nine tough pars. But I was able to finish strong, shooting 3-under par over the final five holes.”

Sophomore Liebelei Lawrence (68+78=146) finished 6-over par Saturday to fall into a tie for 13th place. Freshman Amber Lundskog (75+72=147) shot an even par on the second day to climb into a tie for 17th.
