The Vanderbilt women’s team is in eighth place at the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview with a total of 593 (296-297), and the men are in 10th position after posting a two-round total of 585 (292-293).
The third and final round will take place on Sunday morning, with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT.
Vanderbilt Men
The Vanderbilt men’s golf team finished their second day of play at nine-over par, 293, and are currently in ninth place overall after two rounds with a total of 585 (292-293). Adam Hofmann posted the Commodores’ best round of the day with an even-par 71 and leads all VU players with a one-over, 143 (72-71) four the tournament.
Hoffman was moved up from being tied for 20th to being tied for 15th with his score of 71 on Saturday. Freshman Hunter Stewart shot a 32 on his front nine at the Legends Club South Course and shot a 72 for the day on Saturday, Vanderbilt’s second-best total in the second round.
“I got off to a slow start early and just kind of grinded the whole day, my timing wasn’t quite there, especially on the back nine, but I managed to get some up and down,” said Hofmann. “I birdied two of those par 5s on the back to get back to even. I’m just going to try to have a good practice session here and tomorrow in my warm-up just be in my process and just go out and be really into what I need to do. I’m going to try to go out with a nice finish tomorrow.”
Oklahoma leads the team leaderboard after two rounds with a four-under par, 564. The Sooners hold a one stroke lead on Middle Tennessee State and Ole Miss.
Joe David of Ole Miss, Charlie Bull of Akron, and John Skeadas of Davidson are all tied for the individual lead at five-under, 137.
“I saw Hunter Stewart get off to a great start, and he showed some flashes of who he’s about to become as a player,” said Vanderbilt head men’s coach Tom Shaw. “He didn’t hold on to it but that’s okay, because he showed signs of being a dominant player. Hoffman played a very solid round of golf. Trey DelGreco held it together for most of the round, and then it got away from him, but he finished strong which is great. We just need to get some good production from the bottom of the lineup. It’s just been the case of playing a good stretch of holes here, then we have a little hiccup, then we play another good stretch. We have to sustain a long drive, like in football, and we’ve got to continue it.

Vanderbilt Women
The Commodores are in eighth place after two days of play at the Mason Rudolph Fall Preview, and have a two-round total of 593 (296-297) heading into Sunday. Commodore junior Lauren Stratton leads all Vanderbilt players with a 143 (72-71) and is in a tie for third on the overall individual leaderboard.
Stratton counted three birdies, 13 pars, and only two bogeys in her round on Saturday in route to the one-under 71. Senior Marina Alex led Vanderbilt on Saturday, with a two-under par, 70, and is in a tie for eighth individually.
“I want to say through my first eight holes I had some really good shots, but I was only two under, but I could have been more than that,” said Alex. “Then I made a bogey on nine, three putting, so that kind of took the wind out of my sails a little bit. I was comfortable with the putts, but I didn’t match my speed and my break well and out here you have to be pretty perfect in order for the putt to go in.
“I felt I could have scored a lot lower than I did, but I’m definitely pleased with it. It wasn’t a stressful round of golf – it was an easy, smooth 70, so that was nice. I felt I could have gone low today, especially with two early birdies on the front nine. I’m in an okay position, so long as we have some cooperative weather tomorrow, I’m going to try again and hope that I can get into the 60s at least.”
UCLA leads the Fall Preview with a 579 (296-283) after firing a five-under par, 283 on Saturday. The Bruins lead Alabama by six strokes.
The Crimson Tide’s Jennifer Kirby had a stellar day on the North Course, shooting a six-under 66, and is currently in the lead individually with a 138. Kirby holds a four-shot lead over Tiffany Lua of UCLA.
“It was just exciting to see our two leaders, Marina and Stratty make some birdies coming in,” said women’s coach Greg Allen. “They just played solid all day and were under par early and it was just a good steady round for them.”
