The Vanderbilt women’s golf team posted a 36-hole total of 609 (300-309) in the first two rounds of the Windy City Collegiate at the Glen View Club and are in 14th on the team leader board heading into the third and final round on Tuesday.
Senior Kate Sborov led the way for the Commodores with a two-round score of 152 (76-76). Freshman Abbey Carlson and junior Alexandra Farnsworth shot a pair of 153’s, while freshman Alison Armstrong and sophomore Courtney Zeng each carded a 154.
“Golf was hard today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “We didn’t make a single birdie during the second round. We will use this as a learning opportunity. Despite the score, the girls are upbeat and understand there’s way more to life than a tough day on the golf course.”
Georgia leads the tournament with a two-round score of 564 (282-282), four shots better than second-place Southern California. The Bulldogs’ Bailey Tardy leads all individuals with a 135 (66-69).
The final round of the tournament takes place on Tuesday morning.
