Cummins, Gainor Named All-America

Vandy duo honored by NTCA

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt duo of Mabel Cummins and Samantha Gainor have been named All-America by the National Tenpin Coaches Association.

Cummins was named a second-team selection while Gainor was an honorable mention.

A sophomore, Cummins was the Southland Bowling League Tournament MVP and the Southland Bowling League Bowler of the Month for February. She was also the MVP of the Bulldog Classic and named to the Lady Techsters Invite and Kat Klash Classic All-Tournament teams.

The Illinois native and Hermitage resident was an NTCA honorable mention All-American as a freshman.

Gainor, from Chesterfield, Michigan, was named MVP of the Lady Techsters Invite this season. The senior was a third-team NTCA All-America selection as a junior and sophomore.

Nebraska’s Crystal Elliott was named the NTCA’s Player of the Year while Nebraska’s Paul Klempa was chosen as Coach of the Year. Denise Blankenzee of Sam Houston State was honored as Rookie of the Year.
