NASHVILLE, Tenn. –
Head coach Steve Keith and senior Alexa Rogers spoke with Sean Cartell from the SEC after Vanderbilt’s second place finish at the Wisconsin-Adidas Invitational last weekend and shared their thoughts on the team…
The three runners arrived at Vanderbilt in the fall of 2008, they of different backgrounds and different personalities. But looking at the trio now, it would be hard to imagine a time when each of its members weren’t close friends both on and off the cross country course.
Louise Hannallah hailed from Potomac, Md., Alexa Rogers came from Littleton, Colo., and Jordan White, who redshirted her freshman season, are now, more than three years later, leading the charge that has made the Vanderbilt women’s cross country teams one of the top squads in the nation.
“It all starts with the three seniors,” Vanderbilt head coach Steve Keith said. “Those three came in together and it’s their fourth year running together now. They’re all best friends and there’s no pecking order on the team. That’s been great because they’re all happy to be contributing. I think each class has its own personality, but this group has stayed very, very close and has pushed each other. What has been more special is their connection with each other.”
