NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The fall 2022 competition schedule for Vanderbilt men’s and women’s cross country has been announced. The season holds four away meets before the SEC Championships.
The season will begin in familiar fashion for the Commodores at Percy Warner Park on Friday, Sept. 2, where they will run in the Belmont Opener. Then they will travel to Bloomington, Indiana, on Friday, Sept. 16, to compete at the Coaching Tree Invitational.
Two weeks after that, Vanderbilt will return to South Bend, Indiana, for the Joe Piane Invitational on Sept. 30. The final regular season meet, the Weis-Crockett Invitational, will be Saturday, Oct. 15, at Oklahoma State.
The SEC Championships are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 28, and will be hosted by Ole Miss. The NCAA Regionals will be in Huntsville, Alabama, on Nov. 11 preceding the NCAA Championships on Nov. 19 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
The 2021–22 distance Dores tallied success on and off the field of competition. Academically, the Commodores had 21 student-athletes on the 2021 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll, five total on the 2021–22 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll, several USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees, a pair of CoSIDA All-District selections, a first-team Academic All-America honoree and the SEC Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Athletically, a trio of cross country Commodores earned all-region honors from the USTFCCCA— Matthew Estopinal, McKenzie Yanek and Nick Laning. Yanek and Grace Jensen competed at the NCAA East Preliminaries in the 1,500 and 10,000 meters, respectively.
