WEST POINT, Miss. – Vanderbilt sophomore Jacqui Concolino carded a 2-under 70 on Sunday to finish tied for fifth with South Carolina’s Jenna Pearson at 1-over 217 at the Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf Championship at Old Waverly Golf Club.

Concolino’s 2-under 70 tied Florida’s Whitney Myers for the second-best score of the final round. Tournament medalist Taylor Leon of Georgia posted a 5-under 67 on the final day to win the event with an 8-under 208.

“Jacqui is a super talented player who really stepped up today and played aggressively,” Vanderbilt head coach Martha Richards said. “She is capable of a lot more, shooting the same scores as Taylor Leon. But, with her play today Jacqui has some good momentum heading into the (NCAA) regionals.”

Concolino registers her second consecutive top-five finish at the league’s premier women’s golf event. Last season, the Orlando, Fla. native posted a 2-over par 218 to finish fourth at the SEC Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.

With the result, Concolino has finished in the top 10 in seven of nine tournaments played this season. For her brief collegiate career, the sophomore now has 14 top 10 finishes in 21 events over the past two seasons.

As a team, the Commodores took sixth place following an 11-over 299 on Sunday. Vanderbilt finished 34-over 898 for the event. Georgia won the team title as well with an amazing 1-over 865. The Bulldogs carded a 1-over 289 on Sunday.

Commodore freshman Brooke Goodwin notched her second career top 20 finish, tying for 18th place with a 7-over 223. The North Carolina native carded a 1-over 73 on Sunday thanks in part to back-to-back birdies on Nos. 6 and 7. She finished the tournament with a par score on 41 of 54 holes.

“Brooke had two really good rounds of golf this weekend and played with incredible consistency,” Richards said. “She was very persistent and did not let things get in her way. When she does that she plays really well.”

Vanderbilt senior Kristen Svicarovich recorded a 4-over par 76 on the final round to end up tied for 30th place at 12-over 228. Junior Liebelei Lawrence completed play Sunday at 8-over 80 to finish tied for 35th place at 14-over 230.

Senior Chris Brady posted a 9-over 81 to tie for 52nd position at 24-over 240.

“Our mentality today was better,” Richards said. “We have to continue to attack and keep a hunter’s focus while we’re on the golf course.”

Vanderbilt will learn its ranking and location for postseason play on April 30 when the selections for the NCAA regionals are announced. Sixty-four teams make up the field with 21 squads competing May 10-12 at three sites: Baton Rouge, La. (East), Ann Arbor, Mich. (Central) and St. George, Utah (West).

The top eight teams from each site, as well as the top two individual performers not from an advancing squad, move on to compete in the NCAA Championship May 22-25 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
