NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The No. 20/21 Vanderbilt women’s basketball team defeated Northern Arizona, 57-41, Thursday at Memorial Gymnasium.

Sophomore Liz Sherwood was the only Commodore in double-figures, scoring 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Alyssa Wahl had a game-high 16 to lead the Lumberjacks.

Vanderbilt held NAU’s leading scorer, Megan Porter (20.2 ppg), to one point in the contest. The Lumberjacks shot 32 percent from the field and missed all nine of their three-point attempts.

The Commodore bench chipped in 21 points, including nine from senior Nicole Jules and seven from freshman Holly Rogers.

Defensively, junior Dee Davis led the way for VU with four steals. Three other Commodores — Sherwood, junior Caroline Williams and freshman Christina Wirth — each had a pair of steals.

Vanderbilt (7-2) remains at home this weekend, playing host to Miami (Ohio) on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium. Following that game, the Commodores will take a 10-day hiatus during fall final exams.
