Commodores to Take on SMU

Two programs begin a home-and-home series as a part of a scheduling alliance between SEC and American Athletic Conference

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Game one of the 2019-20 schedule is now on the books with the Commodores taking on SMU in 2019-20 and 2020-21 in a home-and-home series that is a part of a scheduling alliance between the SEC and the American Athletic Conference. This year’s game will take place on Jan. 4, 2020, in Nashville, with Vanderbilt traveling to SMU in Dallas, Texas, the following season.

The Mustangs, who are coached by former Vanderbilt assistant coach Tim Jankovich, posted a 15-17 overall record and a 6-12 mark in American Athletic Conference play in 2018-19.

Vanderbilt leads the all-time series record between the two schools, 14-6, with the last meeting coming in the 1992-93 season in a Commodore win at Memorial Gymnasium, 95-86. Vanderbilt is 10-0 in games played at home against the Mustangs and 4-6 in games played in Dallas, Texas.
