KENOSHA, WI—Vanderbilt won three of its five Baker games Friday at Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Warhawk Invitational. The Commodores closed the day in sixth place among the17 competing teams with two more days remaining in the tournament.

Vandy began the day win wins over 15th ranked Saint Francis (Pa.) and Lincoln Memorial before losing back-to-back games against No. 1 ranked Nebraska and No. 14 Sacred Heart. It closed the afternoon by topping Adelphi, rated 19th nationally with one of the highest scores of the day (1,121).

The Commodores wore new red, white and blue uniforms in honor of Veteran’s Day and as is typical early in the season, used a variety of lineups trying to find a spark. Jordan Newham, Adel Wahner, Emily Rigney, Giselle Poss and Maria Bulanova handled the chores early. As the day progressed, Katie Stark and Nicole Powell got into the lineup.

The Cornhuskers are leading after the first day followed by McKendree and Arkansas State.

Saturday’s five team games start at 9:35 (CT) and will be live streamed on The Cube. Vanderbilt’s first opponent is defending NCAA champion Stephen F. Austin.
