Commodores Play in Texas

Vanderbilt heads to Fort Worth for the Charles Schwab Collegiate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golf returns to the tee this week to compete in the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational at historic Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The Commodores take on the same course less than two months before it hosts the PGA Tour’s annual Charles Schwab Invitational.

“We are super excited to be a part of this elite field on a very historic golf course in the inaugural year of this tournament,” said head coach Greg Allen.

The two-day, 54-hole event will play at par 72 and a length of 6,092 yards. This week’s field consists of 11 teams in the SCOREBOARD Top 25 Rankings. Vanderbilt is currently ranked No. 15 nationally on the list. The full table of schools includes No. 20 Arizona, No. 19 Auburn, Baylor, Kentucky, No. 18 Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, No. 3 Oregon, SMU, No. 1 Stanford, No. 16 TCU, No. 6 Texas, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 5 USC and No. 9 Wake Forest.

Vanderbilt brings its experienced lineup this week of Lynn Lim, Ava Merrill, Tillie Claggett, Angelina Tolentino and Sara Im. Earlier this month, this squad tied for eighth place at the equally competitive Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.

“Everyone got a few days to rest after the Palm Springs tournament and we’ve had a really good week of practice,” said Allen. “This will be a team effort, and we need everyone taking care of the little things this week. We’ve had a tendency of wasting shots and we can’t do that this week against this field.”

Vanderbilt tees off the first round alongside Oregon and Texas at 8:30 a.m. CT on Monday. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
