Commodores Play Host To Central Michigan Monday Vanderbilt (5-4) looks to continue its strong play at Memorial Gymnasium Monday when Central Michigan visits the historic arena for a 7:06 p.m. CT tip-off. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net South. Game Notes The Commodores, who own more home wins (20-2) than any other Southeastern Conference member since the start of last season, have cruised in their five wins at home by an average of 19 points a contest. VU is shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 46.0 percent from beyond the arc where it has converted 10 or more 3-point attempts in its last four home tilts. Opponents have made only 38.5 percent of their field goal attempts at Memorial Gym and only 28.6 percent from behind the 3-point line. One of Vanderbilt’s most consistent players this season, Mario Moore leads the Commodores with 15.8 points a contest. He’s shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 52.0 percent from 3-point range. The Nashville native has scored 10 or more point in 14 consecutive games. Corey Smith scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting to help carry Vanderbilt to a 78-55 victory over TCU on Saturday. The Commodores had lost four of their last five before the win. Central Michigan (4-3) has not played since Dec. 11 when the Chippewas lost at Minnesota 77-63. Four players average in double figures for CMU led by junior guard Kevin Nelson’s 17.1 points a game. |
