The Vanderbilt Commodores will be the number three seed in the SEC East and will take on the number six seed in the West, LSU, in the first round of the 2011 SEC Tournament on Thursday evening at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The game will tip off at approximately 10 p.m. EST.
Vanderbilt And The SEC Tournament
Vanderbilt will be the #3 seed in the East at the 2011 SEC Tournament in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome. Vanderbilt owns a 30-48 all-time mark at the SEC Tournament. The Commodores split two games at the 2010 tournament in Nashville, defeating Georgia, 78-66, in the quarterfinals, and then falling to Mississippi State, 62-52, in the semifinals.
In all, Vanderbilt is making its 50th appearance in the SEC Tournament. VU has reached the semifinals 10 times and the finals once. The lone trip to the finals resulted in Vanderbilt’s only SEC Tournament Title, which came in 1951 with a 61-57 win over Kentucky.

The SEC Tournament In Atlanta
The SEC Tournament returns to Atlanta, Ga., this week for the 13th time in tournament history. Vanderbilt is 7-12 all-time in the tournament when it is held in Georgia. The Commodores are 5-9 in the Georgia Dome (1995, 1998-2000, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008), 0-1 in the Omni (1987), and 2-2 in the Atlanta Athletic Club (1933-34).
Stallings At The SEC Tournament
Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings is 5-10 all-time at the SEC Tournament, and has advanced to the semifinals twice during his 12-year tenure. The Commodores advanced to the semifinals in 2004 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and last season at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Stallings is 4-6 in five SEC Tournament appearances at the Georgia Dome.
Vanderbilt As A #3 Seed In The East
This year’s tournament marks the fourth time Vanderbilt has been the #3 seed in the East since the SEC went to two divisions in 1992 – the other years were 1994, 2005, and 2008. As the three seed, the Commodores have an all-time record of 1-3 at the SEC Tournament, with their lone win coming in a 93-82 win over Auburn in the first round of the tournament in 2008.

The Alabama Series (Series tied at four at SEC Tourney)
The all-time series is tied at 64…Alabama holds a 43-19 advantage in Tuscaloosa. Vanderbilt leads the series in Nashville 40-18 and at neutral sites, 5-4 … Vanderbilt knocked off Alabama in the only meeting between the two schools this year, 81-77, in Nashville on Feb. 10 … Vanderbilt has won eight of the last 11 series meetings … The Crimson Tide won the last meeting at the tournament, an 82-75 first round decision on March 12, 2009 in Tampa… Kevin Stallings is 9-6 all-time vs. Alabama.
The Arkansas Series (ARK Leads 3-0 at SEC Tourney)
Arkansas leads the all-time series 16-9, including a 8-2 advantage in Fayetteville and a 3-0 lead at neutral sites. Vanderbilt leads the series in Nashville, 7-5… Arkansas claimed the only meeting this year in Nashville, 89-78, on Jan. 29…The Razorbacks defeated Vanderbilt in the 2008 SEC Quarterfinals, 81-65 in their last tournament meeting…Kevin Stallings is 4-9 against Arkansas.
