First Round Results

Sophomore Cindy Ha carded a first-round, 68, on Friday at the Yale Intercollegiate in New Haven, Conn., and is in a tie for the individual lead with Clemson’ s Lauren Stephenson heading into round two Saturday at The Course at Yale. As a team, the Commodores are in fourth place with a team total of 296 and trail first-round team leader Furman by six shots.

Ha, in her first trip around the par-71, 6,008-yard layout, tallied seven birdies on the day, which tied Stephenson for the best total of the day.

“Cindy looked solid today,” said associate head coach Holly Clark. “She made seven birdies and gave herself opportunities. This course requires precision and she executed her game plan very well in rainy conditions for a good portion of the front nine.”

Vanderbilt also counted a 75 from junior Kate Sborov, a 76 from freshman Alexandra Farnsworth, and a 77 from senior Jennifer Hahn.

Furman holds a three-shot lead on second-place Clemson and a four-shot lead on third-place Michigan.

“We are excited for tomorrow’s round knowing we have to do a better job of putting the ball in better places around the greens,” said Clark. “This is a tough group and I love their fight.”
