Back to Texas: Vanderbilt travels to the Lone Star State for the second time in three weeks, this time to Houston’s Palace Lanes for Stephen F. Austin’s Storming ‘Jack Classic Friday-Sunday. This is the first year SFA has hosted a tournament.

Format: Friday has six, 5-game Baker matches that start at 9:25 a.m. CT. Saturday’s six traditional team games begin at 9:25 a.m. On Sunday there will be one remaining team game played to complete pool play; then the championship bracket is two rounds of best four of seven Bakers. Play Sunday starts at 8:25.

Following the tournament: Vanderbilt will USTREAM its games and @VandyBowling will keep fans updated on Twitter.

Six are traveling:
Vanderbilt will travel six bowlers, including one newcomer to the road. Sophomore Nicole Powell makes her first trip since the fall of 2013 and joins the recent regular lineup of Katie Stark, Amanda Fry, Rebeca Reguero, Giselle Poss and Robyn Renslow.

New Poll is Out: The latest poll of NCAA head coaches has just been released. Vandy maintained its position at No. 6, behind Nebraska, FDU, Arkansas State, Central Missouri and Stephen F. Austin. Sam Houston was seventh, Maryland-Eastern Shore eighth, Whitewater ninth and North Carolina A&T round out the top 10.

Lots of lefties: Four of the six Commodores are left-handers (Stark, Fry, Reguero and Powell)

Participating teams: UAB, Central Missouri, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Nebraska, North Carolina A&T, Louisiana Tech, Monmouth, Prairie View, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis-Brooklyn, Sam Houston State, Southern, Stephen F. Austin, Tulane, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Updating history: We just did some updating of all-time won-loss records and thought they might be fun to share. The team is currently 64-33, making our nearly 10-year old program record 832-392. That’s a winning margin of 68%, which naturally includes the first year of existence (2004-05) when that group of former club team bowlers went 12-69. If one only ran numbers starting in Year 2 after we had recruited bowlers, the program would be 820-323, a 73% winning ratio.
