NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt cross country will compete at the SEC Championships Friday at Dale Watts Cross Country Course in College Station, Texas.
The Commodore men have been paced all season by freshman Michael Skora who opened his season with a win at the Belmont Opener. He has also collected top 15 finishes at the Southern Showcase and Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational where he placed top 5 among freshmen runners. Sophomore Brady Bliven has been Vandy’s second finisher on two occasions, earning a top 25 placement and turning in an 8-kilometer personal-best at the Joe Piane Invitational.
On the women’s side, four different runners have led the Dores at each of their four regular season meets. Senior Cameron Fawcett opened the season leading Vandy with a runner-up finish at the Belmont Opener. At the Southern Showcase, sophomore Bria Bennis was the first Commodore to cross the finish line, placing eighth out of 459 competitors. Senior Julia Rosenberg set the pace at the Joe Piane Invitational with a top 50 finish in the Blue division. To close out the regular season, graduate student Ellie Wolski paved the way for the Dores’ third-place finish at Wisconsin Pre-Nationals, coming in ninth individually.
At the 2023 SEC Championships, Vanderbilt’s women’s squad placed seventh, which is the team’s best finish since 2020. Vandy’s men placed 12th as a team.
The women’s 6-kilometer race begins at 9:05 a.m., and the men take off at 9:45 a.m. Live results are available online, and action will be live on SEC Network.
