The Vanderbilt women’s golf team finished the Clemson Invitational in fourth place with a final total of 865 (289-290-286) on Sunday at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C. Sophomore Alexandra Farnsworth and senior Jennifer Hahn each finished in a tie for sixth on the individual leaderboard with a final score of 213 to lead the Commodores.
The Commodores finished four shots behind team champion Florida, who ended the tournament with a score of 861 (284-290-287) and one shot ahead of Furman. Michigan State finished in third with a total of 864 (287-292-285).
Vanderbilt was led Sunday by sophomore Cindy Ha, who carded a three-under, 69. The Commodores also counted a one-under, 71, from junior Kate Sborov, an even-par 72 from Farnsworth, and a 74 from Hahn and freshman Courtney Zeng.
“We played really, really well today, but just happened to make some untimely bogeys and a double,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “I’m proud of the way they competed, though, and how they put us in the hunt coming down the stretch. They are disappointed, but I told them we did too many things well this weekend to let a few mistakes get us down. We are trending in the right direction and that’s what we want to be doing in April and May. We will continue working hard and I’m excited about where we are heading into SECs. “
Individually, Katie Sharp of Michigan State won medalist honors with a eight-under par, 208 (68-70-70), two shots better than Alice Chen of Furman and Teresa Caballer Hernani of Augusta.
The Clemson Invitational was Vanderbilt’s last regular season tournament of the season. The Commodores travel to Birmingham, Ala., April 15-17, for the SEC Championship.
