Chelsie Hall led the way with 17 points – 11 coming in the second half — but Vanderbilt (4-12, 0-2 SEC) couldn’t overcome turnovers as they dropped an 81-52 contest to Georgia (13-2, 1-1 SEC) on Thursday night in Memorial Gym.

How It Happened
First Quarter: Georgia 22, Vanderbilt 9
The Commodores has one of their better starts to a game and the game was tied at 6 with 6:44 left in the quarter before a pair of free throws from Mackenzie Engram put the visitors on top and sparked a 4-0 spurt but a Cierra Walker bank shot kept the home team within two possessions. The Dores went cold and were without a bucket for 2:18 as the Bulldogs took advantage and ran their lead to 13 points before the end of the first quarter. Vanderbilt’s 10 first quarter turnovers led to 10 Georgia points.

Second Quarter: Georgia 41, Vanderbilt 25
The second quarter had a very slow start to it from an offensive standpoint as the teams combined for just four points thought the first five minutes of action before both teams got going before the media timeout. Georgia held a 26-16 lead out of the break and was helped by a team-leading 12 points from Stephanie Paul off the bench. The home team got as close as nine points on two occasions but the Bulldogs took a 16-point margin into the break.

Third Quarter: Georgia 60, Vanderbilt 43
The Dores struggled to get it to under 10 points in the quarter despite holding the visitors to several scoring droughts of two minutes or more. Chelsie Hall who was relatively quiet in the first half with just six points, added 11 points in the third quarter and reached double figures for the fourth straight game. Rachel Bell also scored her 10th point in the third quarter and extended her double figure scoring streak to a team-leading eight straight games.

Fourth Quarter: Georgia 81, Vanderbilt 52
Vanderbilt struggled in the fourth quarter and shooting just 13.3 percent from the field going 2-of-15 and couldn’t stop the Bulldogs who capitalized on Vanderbilt miscues with a combined 45 points of Commodore turnovers and second chance opportunities. Blessing Ejiofor was a spark with four fourth-quarter points.

Inside the Lane
-Rachel Bell was presented her 1,000-point ball before today’s game. She scored her 1,000th point against NC State on Dec. 19.

-Vanderbilt’s nine first and fourth quarter points are a season low for the Commodores, the previous low was 11 points vs. Ball State

-Chelsie Hall reached double figures for the fourth straight game with 17 points

-Rachel Bell extended her double figure steak to eight consecutive games with 10 points.

-Vanderbilt’s 52 points is a season-low
