The Commodores (15-10, 5-6 SEC) and Razorbacks (17-8, 5-7 SEC) are looking to build momentum in the final weeks of the regular season in hopes for postseason consideration.
Vanderbilt snapped a two-game SEC losing streak Wednesday, storming from 15 behind to win going away, 67-43, at Auburn. The Commodores scored the first 21 points of the second half while limiting the Tigers to three field goals (11.5 percent field goal shooting) in the final stanza to record the victory. Corey Smith led all scorers with 19 points and a career-high five steals. The victory was the 100th win of the Kevin Stallings era.
Arkansas saw its three-game league win streak snapped Wednesday, falling to No. 16 Alabama, 72-63, in Tuscaloosa. Jonathan Modica led the Razorbacks with 16 points.
Vanderbilt ranks second in the SEC in 3-point shooting (39.9 percent) and is among the nation’s leaders with 9.76 3-pointers per game. Arkansas leads the SEC in 3-point shooting defense, holding foes to only 28 percent from beyond the arc.
Arkansas leads the all-time series 10-6 after claiming a 70-62 victory in Fayetteville last season (1/24/04). Vanderbilt owns a 5-3 advantage in Nashville.
