Commodores Advance to Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Play In
Vanderbilt Makes First Appearance in MVC Tournament Since 2001 Season

The Vanderbilt Commodores make their sixth appearance in the Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament taking on the #1 seed SMU Mustangs Friday (Nov. 5) at 7:30 pm.

It is the first appearance for the Commodores in the MVC Tournament since the 2001 season. Vanderbilt, the #8 Seed, is 1-5 in MVC Tournament games with the victory coming in their first year in the league, a 2-0 decision over Eastern Illinois.

Vanderbilt ended the 2004 regular season wth a 7-9-1 overall mark and a 3-6 record in the MVC. The Commodores doubled their win total from last season overall (three wins in 2003) and and in league play (no wins in 2003).

This will mark the seventh meeting between these two teams with SMU owning a 6-0 lead in the series. The last two contests were decided by one goal, including a 2-1 double overtime loss in 2003. This season, SMU defeated the Commodores 2-1 in Dallas.

The winner of the game plays the winner of the Bradley/Drake matchup Nov. 12 (Friday) at Morrison Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska (Creighton, host).
