Brasher: New Bookstore Opens

Looking for a place to purchase Vanderbilt merchandise when you arrive on campus for gameday? Vanderbilt’s new bookstore, Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt, is a must see for Commodore fans.

Located in the space formerly operated by Borders at 2525 West End Ave., the bookstore officially opened Friday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony slated for 1 p.m.

To mark the opening of the bookstore, Vanderbilt head coaches Melanie Balcomb, Tim Corbin and James Franklin dropped by Friday morning to meet customers and tour the store.

Instead of being located in the heart of campus in Rand Hall, the bookstore now has greater visibility and is also significantly larger. The store blends Vanderbilt merchandise with textbooks, e-readers, best-selling books, and also features a cafe that serves Starbucks beverages.

The new bookstore is open 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. On Sunday’s the bookstore is open from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
