SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico — Following its first win of the season at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Colorado, the Vanderbilt women’s golf travels even further west this weekend to San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, to compete in the Battle of the Beach tournament.

“What another unbelievable opportunity for our team,” said head coach Greg Allen. “I hope we understand how lucky we are to be at Vanderbilt and get to do the things we do. We started the fall at Pebble Beach and are now ending it in Cabo.”

The Commodores, currently ranked 16th nationally on GolfStat.com, face a packed lineup of opponents including many top-ranked and conference foes. Besides the Dores, the 17-team field includes Arkansas (ranked 14th), Baylor (20), Charlotte, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Houston (23), Kansas, Kansas State, LSU (17), Ole Miss (5), Mississippi State (7), Missouri, North Texas, Rutgers, host TCU and Wisconsin.

“We’ve had a solid couple weeks at home preparing, I think the girls are ready.” said Allen. “This is a really good field, we need to understand that we just need to play our game and not get caught up in what everybody else is doing.”

The event will be held at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Club Campestre San Jose course. The oasis sits between ocean and desert, offering incredible views of both on a rolling set of hills. The par-72 course will play around 6,200 yards on all days.

Vanderbilt last appeared at the Battle at the Beach in 2019, taking home a ninth-place finish. Now, the Dores look to capture their second straight tournament win with a lineup consisting of Celina Sattelkau, Natasha Kiel, Virginie Ding, Lynn Lim and Tillie Claggett.

As part of the 9 a.m. CT shotgun start on Friday, Vanderbilt is scheduled to tee off on Nos. 8-12 with Houston, Kansas and Mississippi State. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
